Software defined networks are proving their mettle in simplifying control over data flow and ensuring information security through traffic regulation. The software is programmed to recognize the regular traffic patterns and allow for seamless flow. It also detects irregular traffic flow and accordingly determines if it might be a threat to network security.

SDN has found a lot of takers in enterprises that wish to regulate their networks. It has provided its end-users with a centralized control logic through separation of control and forwarding planes.
