Recognized worldwide for its innovation in cloud infrastructure, VMware has constantly been making its super-strong presence felt in the industry year-on-year. VMware provides a user-friendly and enterprise-secure digital workspace that creates exceptional experiences for organizations through business mobility. In the first place, the company has brought forth leading-edge technologies that can spawn effectual virtualization. Launched by VMware decades ago, x86 server virtualization is now an established technology, harnessed by data centers across the globe. Going a good step further, the “vSphere with Operations Management” platform from VMware serves as the ideal base for virtualizing storage and network devices along with end-to-end orchestration of the process. As enterprises make the shift to digital, “we are applying the benefits of Software-Defined Data Center (SDDC) in our integrated architecture for IT,” says VMware’s CEO, Patrick P. Gelsinger.

VMware’s network virtualization technology truly decouples network resources from the core hardware. The VMware NSX solution integrates various network capabilities into a hypervisor layer, empowering users to formulate an entire networking architecture. NSX seeks to abstract the network from the underlying hardware and drive optimized networking services to the VM. This, in turn, executes micro-segmentation along with improved application continuity and incorporation of better security services.

VMware’s Software-Defined Storage (SDS) isolates the basic storage, by means of a virtual data plane, leaving the VM to be the primary unit of storage provisioning and management across diverse storage systems. VMware’s SDS solutions enhance data centers by customizing storage services on a per-application basis besides making the infrastructure fluid. What’s more, SDS allows the use of industry-standard servers like x86 for organizations to develop economic and scalable storage environments that can quickly adapt to changing storage demands.

Having discussed the utility of the aforementioned components, it is also important to highlight the management system that navigates applications through the virtualized data center.

To this end, VMware introduces a policy-oriented cloud solution for simplifying governance and operations. VMware’s unified cloud management platform supports organizations in meeting their wide-ranging cloud requirements. As Gelsinger states, “We enable users to accelerate the delivery of modern apps running on an agile, API driven infrastructure.” Companies can set up software-defined architecture as a private cloud or deploy it off-site using the VMware vCloud Suite or even avail reliable and bespoke cloud services from certified VMware partners.

Given the current surge of digital transformation, most enterprises today gravitate toward virtualization to reduce delivery time and thereby streamline business processes. What individuates VMware from the rest is its matchless competence to expedite the delivery of new apps and data. Moreover, VMware’s hybrid cloud lets users future-proof their cloud with their preferred infrastructure.

Going by the stated offerings, it is no wonder that over 500,000 global firms bank on VMware’s solutions. Citing an instance, Edinburgh Napier University approached VMware seeking an effective and reliable mode of network virtualization for data protection. To this end, VMware deployed NSX to create a seamless IT environment for student learning. With security at its core, the IT team at Edinburgh could easily provision compliant infrastructure and quickly render new services for their students and employees.

Going forward, VMware aims at introducing professional services to help customers figure out how they can upgrade their SDDC systems. Furthermore, the company intently focuses on client feedback to restructure their cloud platform consequently shaping the future of networking.
